Markus Prause

Markus Prause is a native of and has studied in Vienna. He graduated from the Conservatory for Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna, under the guidance of Dir.Horst Leichtfried. He continued his musical training in master classes and private lessons with important artists, such as A.Harasiewicz (Poland), J.Dichler (Wien), S.Maltsev (Petersburg) and W.Fleischmann (Vienna).During his studies he was awarded several prizes in national and international competitions.

Markus Prause has been appointed as a professor of piano performance at The Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna. His students are actively concertizing and some have won awards in international piano competitions. Markus Prause is frequently invited to hold master classes throughout Europe and to participate as juror in international piano competitions.

Markus Prause performs as a piano soloist and chamber musician in Europe, South America and East Asia. He played in several festivals, like the Vienna International Festival, IGNM-Festival, 20th century festival Prague, Spring-Festival Korea, Bach-Festival Salzburg, Chopin-Festival Gaming, Festival of contemporary music Lower Austria and others. He performed with orchestras (amongst them the National Philharmonic of Venezuela, Caracas), he played solo recitals in the Vienna Musikverein and Konzerthaus.

In 2005 Prof. Prause and his wife, pianist Chen Chin-Lin, founded the Music Forum Vienna West, where he serves as artistic director. The mission of the forum is to support and further the artistic and musical development of highly talented children.
