Fascinating sound of the Traverso - Experience playing on period instruments

Carsten Lorenz unterrichtet Cembalo und Generalbass am Institut für Alte Musik der Staatlichen Musikhochschule Trossingen sowie an der Evangelischen Kirchenmusikhochschule in Tübingen und ist seit 2014 Universitäts-Professor an der Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität.

Seine große Liebe gilt - neben seiner Familie - den äußerst subtilen Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten des Clavichords sowie der 'erdigen' Kraft der Musik aus der zweiten Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts.

Amongst the year's finest issues we must mention Gunar Letzbor's interpretation of Biber's Rosary Sonatas. His intonation is impeccable, the sound is warm and generous, whilst his utter technical security and above all musicality is in evidence both in the devilish rapid passages and in those of heart-rending cantabile.

Besides joy of making music with heart and mind my way of teaching ist based on the following topics:

• Embochure - poise - breathing - soundimagination - vibrato - method of practice.
• Warm Ups - concepts with specially considerations of sound design and intonation.
• Flute-literature from Baroque over viennese Classics and Romantique to Contemporary music, with focus on consiousness of style and interpretation for each period.

Ensemble "Flutes & More",
a very special Chambermusic workshop - not only for flutes!
The goal is to combine the sound of instruments from the flute-family with reed- and doublereed-instruments like eg. bass-clarinet, bassoon, saxophones.

Special arrangements may include on demand also vocals, drums and percussion as well as harp cello and double-bass.

The results of this workshop shall be presented to the public as an open-air-concert in front of the "Barockschlössl" (an ancient baroque wineyardist's house restored as event-location right in the city-center of Mistelbach) on August 13th, 2021 as well as during the final-concert on August 14th, 2021.

Program: "My piano master-class is dedicated to all music-lovers, whose medium of musical expression is the piano. I want to approach each of you at their appropriate level artistically as well as tecnically. But in addition to that I would like to show up new strategies for you, that you might not have thought possible up to now and I would like to offer new ideas for stage as well as private performance. To find the arropriate literature is of great importance for every pianist. I would offer some good alternatives from contemporary music to the music of past centuries, ..."

Kurt Equiluz was an ensemble member of the Vienna State Opera for over 30 years.
He has specialized on Lied and oratorio singing, which has led to great international success, and the international press called him one of the best Bach interpreters of our time.
As a university professor he led classes for Lied and oratorio singing at the music universities in Graz and Vienna.

Margit Fussi has been a piano accompanist at the music university in Vienna for many years, and she is also a popular soloist and Lied accompanist.
For many years, she was invited to masterclasses of renowned singers (Hans Hotter, Kim Borg, Ileana Cotrubas, Elly Ammeling, Graziella Sciutti, Robert Holl, Kurt Equiluz, Ildiko Raimondi etc.).

During my masterclass i want to offer intensive work on sound, articulation, tchnique (even extended skills like Altissimo, Slaptounging, cicular-beathing, multiphonics ...), style, interpretation and ensemble-playing while exploting the repertoire of the classical saxophone.

Another focus - on individual request or interest - could be "improvisation. Using classical "voicing" we will try and exlore (almost like jazz-musicians) our own ideas, sounds and structures (alone or together with other instuments) and therby we will improve our personal admission and understanding of classical music.

The most profiled pianist, teacher and accompanist will provide piano accompaniment for our classical saxophone masterclass.

All harpists and harp friends are cordially invited to the master class for harp. Beginners who register to try out the harp are welcome to borrow a free rental harp and learn the first harp game.
Advanced students can look forward to tips in technique and musical expression.
For advanced players, performance coaching, playing and development of audition sites, as well as perfection of solo works in technique and performance are offered. Individual wishes can also be accommodated. The lessons take place either on a concert harp, a folk harp or a Lever harp

Regardless if you want to improve your technical abilities on the classical guitar, searching hints on interpretation or developing interest in finding special accompaniments for singer-songwriting - i am looking forward to assist you with stunning exercises, as well as knowledge in musical theory while playing the guitar in different styles.
Your own compositions (classical guitar as well as songwriting) are heartly welcome.

Der Schwerpunkt meiner Unterrichtstätigkeit liegt auf der Vermittlung der besonderen Wiener Klangkultur am Kontrabass. Kraftvoller Bassklang, gepaart mit virtuoser Technik bilden die Grundlagen meiner Unterrichtstätigkeit. Ob in der Volksmusik, dem musikalischen Boden seiner Kindheit und Jugend, im Kammerorchester, im Symphonieorchester oder bei solistischer Kammermusik - immer steht Freude am Musizieren und das musikantische Element im Vordergrund.

How can i improve my piano arrangements?
Is there a key to better timing?

All of this and more is subject to my masterclass. No special training required. Besides that, some basic knowledge in classical theory and jazz chord symbols is very welcome.

In meinem Unterricht verknüpfe ich technische Aspekte des Singens mit musikalischen. Ich versuche, Dich dort abzuholen, wo du gerade stehst und Dich bei Deiner persönlichen Entwicklung ein Stück lang zu begleiten und Dir zu helfen, dein Stimmpotenzial optimal zu nutzen. Ich arbeite sowohl mit Profis als auch mit Hobbysängern oder Anfängern. Ich bin erfahrene Sängerin im Bereich Jazz, Pop, Rock, Blues, Soul, Chanson und gebe meine Erfahrungen gerne weiter.

MEINE METHODE:
Speech Level Singing (kurz: SLS) ist eine funktionale Methode der Stimmbildung, die in den USA von Seth Riggs nach der italienischen Belcanto Gesangstechnik in Verbindung mit Erkenntnissen der Stimmtherapie und Medizin entwickelt wurde. Sie hilft auch denen, die durch schlechten Unterricht oder falsche Praxis Stimmprobleme oder einen Stimmschaden erlitten haben. Die Mix-Technik ist eine Weiterentwicklung dieser Methode. Ziel der von Horst Hausleitner geleiteten Workshops ist es, den Teilnehmern neben den Kursinhalten vor allem Spaß am Saxophonspiel zu vermitteln. Darüber hinaus (durchs´s Spielen kommen d´Leut´z´samm´) sollen durch gegenseitiges Lernen Fortschritte erzielt und vielleicht der Anschluß an andere Band oder ensembles erleichtert werden.
Inhalt: Schulung der Jazz-Phrasierungstechnik, Stilistik, Tonbildung, Intonation, Improvisation, Haltung, Atmung und die Erarbeitung von Arrangements verschiedender Schwierigkeitsgrade und Stilistik.
